“We were inspired to create pieces that embody timeless elegance”

The wind rustles through the lush perennial garden in Operaparken in Copenhagen, making the dog's-tooth violet and poppies dance among the tall grass.

The front-row seats, fashioned from chrome stools with mirrored glass tops, begin to fill with fashion lovers—one dressed in a metallic pink suit and the other in high boots and a denim skirt paired with the OpéraSPORT’s Flora shirt.

The sun shines brightly in the sky, casting a shimmering glow on the water. As "Come Wander with Me" by Jeff Alexander begins to play, a serene and harmonious atmosphere fills the air. The first model gracefully makes her entrance. OpéraSPORT's spring/summer 2025 collection was inspired by the Exillion Garden, a hidden gem north of Copenhagen, a mix of French Baroque and Italian Renaissance. “We were inspired to create pieces that embody timeless elegance,” says co-founder Awa Malina Stelter, reflecting the brand’s fusion of Parisian sophistication with Copenhagen’s sporty edge. “Exploring the garden and translating its beauty into our designs was incredibly fulfilling,”she continues.

The garments, made only from recycled or organic fabrics, are characterized by scrunched details and the colors of a blooming garden: mars red, dewberry, blue, white, and parsnip. “The organic forms found in nature and the clean lines of classic architecture heavily influenced our designs,” Awa explains.

One of my favorite looks makes its entrance: a short-sleeved red and white striped polo shirt paired with a white skirt. The outfit is beautifully completed with a black belt adorned with three large flowers and red open-toe heels. This brand is truly the perfect match between feminine elegance and functional style. “Collaborating with our team to refine the details and ensure every piece was both elegant and functional made the creative journey truly enjoyable.”

Behind the models, a sharp line separates the white stones from the deep blue water. The copper dome of Frederiks Church can be glimpsed across the water, occasionally obscured by the models. The black quilted vegan leather jacket catches the eye—a standout piece.

Watching the models walk the runway, embodying the spirit of the collection, was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,” says Awa. Co-founders Stephanie Gundelach and Awa Malina Stelter enter the runway, playfully running hand in hand with big smiles on their faces. “The best moment during the show was undoubtedly the finale, where all the pieces came together, reflecting the essence of our inspiration.

She explains that they felt a deep sense of pride and fulfillment seeing their vision come to life on the runway.

OpéraSPORT was one of the finalists for the Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize which recognizes excellence in entrepreneurship and fashion innovation—an honor they truly deserve. Congratulations on the outstanding spring/summer 2025 collection! I enjoyed every moment of it.
